SINGLE. MOMMING. HEALING.

So, you never thought you would be here. Me either! From being pregnant and alone to having a whole human alone to being a single mom. It can be a lot on your mental health.

So what do you do?

I’m still healing, but there are things that helped me along the way…

FAMILY/FRIENDS

I know not everyone has a support system. If your fortunate to have supportive people in your life, lean on them. I did a lot of venting. It really helps to be able to talk through things and get the weight off your chest.

FOCUS ON A PROJECT

While it’s helpful to talk through your feelings, you don’t want it to overtake you. Distractions help by taking your mind off the negative feelings. I started SMILE Foundation to keep me from falling into those feelings and to help other single moms. It became my passion project. Find something you’re interested in and use that to redirect your energy.

THERAPY

Speaking with a professional can provide a perspective and other help that you can’t get from family and friends. Through therapy, I was able to identify my triggers and found ways to work through that. I went through sort of a grieving process. It took time to work through those steps. I still have moments of anger, but therapy will definitely push you in the right direction. Find someone you’re comfortable with and stick with it. There will be links to find a therapist down below.

The key to healing is finding what works best for you and seeing it through. It won’t happen overnight. The process will be hard, but you’ll get through it. My daughter is my motivation and I do it all for her.

As always, our babies deserve to see us SMILE!
